A standard Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) motor is designed to seal internal components against dust and moisture ingress, but it lacks structural flameproof integrity. Standard TEFC enclosures cannot withstand internal explosive pressure waves and will rupture, igniting surrounding hazardous gases.
